Portraits of Courage & Sacrifice
And so we must know these good people who helped Jews during the Holocaust. We must learn from them, and in gratitude and hope, we must remember them.
- Elie Wiesel
During the Holocaust, while millions of Europeans stood by as Nazi brutality increased and millions of Jews were murdered, there were individuals who refused to do nothing. At great personal risk, thousands of people fought back, taking part in resistance movements and rescuing Jews. They are the Upstanders this exhibition seeks to recognize for their courage, sacrifice, conviction, and action.
