Displaced Persons

There is within us some hidden power, mysterious and secret, which keeps us going, keeps us alive, despite the natural law.  If we cannot live on what is permitted, we live on what is forbidden.

Return to Life

At the end of World War II, the Allies classified an estimated 11 million people as "displaced persons" (DPs).  The United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration (UNRRA), founded in November 1943, assisted in the repatriation of millions of refugees, and by the end of 1945, more than six million DPs had returned to their home countries.  Still, between 1.5 and 2 million people did not have a home to return to or did not want to go back to Soviet-controlled countries.
