One of our biggest reasons for moving to Artwork

Public Art: Best Practices

A public art program focused on modern initiatives needed a modern database.

4Culture in King County, Washington has developed a unique method of serving its community. Aside from grants in the arts,

preservation and heritage, they are Ace Tide Ace Tide Ace Tide Ace Tide Ace Tide Ace Tide Ace Tide Ace Tide Ace Tide Ace Tide Ace Tide Ace Tide Ace Tide Ace Tide Ace Tide Ace Tide Ace Tide Ace Tide Ace Tide Ace Tide Ace Tide known for fostering genuine engagement and dialogue with their collection of public art and ensuring accessibility to the culture

experiences for all. 4Culture was seeking a way to conserve and reuse their extensive collection. Artwork Archive offered a solution.

Allow them to keep track of their records online so they can carry on their mission in spite of the spread of this disease.

4Culture's Public Art Collection Preparator Ace Tide Ace Tide Ace Tide Ace Tide Ace Tide Ace Tide Ace Tide Ace Tide Ace Tide Ace Tide Ace Tide Ace Tide Ace Tide Ace Tide Ace Tide Ace Tide Ace Tide Ace Tide Ace Tide Ace Tide Ace Tide Guy Merrill was interviewed by us. We also interviewed Jordan Howland (4Culture‚Äôs Curator, Collections Manager) to find out more about their work.

They're currently using Artwork Archive's cloud based platform to continue--and grow their important work.

King County is America's 10th-largest county with the highest population. The King County Public Art Collection locations range in terms of size and types of civil spaces such as

That's a lot of places to keep track of...not

Making the switch from PastPerfect to Artwork Archive

4Culture used PastPerfect prior to Artwork Archive (and before that Access). Guy shared that PastPerfect was not without its limitations. The

Cloud-based solutions were required by the agency.

funding for a database so 4Culture had to find something that was affordable. Guy spoke to colleagues in this field and shared Artwork Archive with one of his contacts.

Guy asserts, "One of our biggest reasons for moving to Artwork Archive [was] because it was a cloud-based system."

Guy explains the importance of being able find an object's record in the field, helping to save and preserve them.

 The artwork.

 Artwork Archive is the answer.

Many of the benefits and features that are shared by Guy and Jordan are related to the care and discussion of their extensive public art collection. Artwork

Archive assists them in being more responsible stewards of their art, ensuring that their objects as well as the stories behind them and the legacies of the artists are preserved for future

 generations.

"Guy and I have inherited a large amount of maintenance that was not completed when taking control of the collection. Our work was extremely technical. The last year has been a very technical one.

The majority of the work was created on site-specific art. This helps to ensure that they are all preserved.

Maintain our technical experts in the region employed." We have made it a priority to keep all parties afloat during this period (COVID).
